Digital Scanning

Digital foot scanning is a paramount technology in the realm of not only performance and athletics, but also with general foot procedures and rehabilitation. Using specialized equipment, your medical professional can pinpoint specific areas of your foot and stride to identify which portions of your foot are under what degree of pressure.

Detections

This particular type of analysis can be indicative of a number of issues in the foot and ankle including:

  • Foot deformities
  • Performance injuries
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Arthritis
  • Diabetes
  • Shin splints
  • Achilles tendonitis
  • Back pain

Digital scanning illuminates how the foot makes contact with any surface. Knowing how you walk on the world around you can create a domino effect into other issues that you may be experiencing.

More Information
  • An important concept in the value of digital scanning to identify lower body pains is the kinetic chain. Starting with your foot at the point of contact, then ankle and shin interaction, followed by alignment of the ankle, shin, and knee, and subsequently followed by hip alignment relative to the pelvis. In many circumstances, an unsupported high arch or a highly-pressured flat foot can cause misalignment of any of these components. When inflammation occurs in the chain, the proceeding or following components act to compensate (generally due to discomfort or pain stimulus).
  • Orthotics are a critical step in identifying a number of lower body issues. In fact, many studies have shown that there is a strong correlation between foot problems and lower back pain. These studies have also shown that the results can be noticed within a 12 week period. We encourage all of our patients to take the opportunity to see if there are any additional, undiagnosed issues that can also be resolved by our services using our digital foot scanning technology.
